Style Guide

Well, Spring has sprung and Summer is just around the corner here in our little corner of the country and frankly the weather couldn’t be better for riding and looking good.

While there is no doubt that few things look as Pro as a full complement of winter kit, there is a certain liberating feeling about leaving the arm warmers and vest in the closet, lacquering up the legs and rolling out of the house Saturday morning in a new, fresh summer kit.

Here at Podium Look headquarters, we firmly believe that sporting the same tired old jersey and shorts year in and year out is akin to strutting about town in last years skinny jeans and fauxhawk.  We would sooner not ride at all than be caught out in public wearing our full circa 2002 Mapei regalia.

Our defining creed here at Podium Look is “Look Good - Feel Good - Ride in Style” and a huge part of Style is keeping it fresh and keeping in that spirit, we’re bringing you the latest looks for 2010

This season brings a new look and a new feel to cycling style.  Black is the new white, garish has jumped the shark and the neutral look is in.  If you spend some time studying the pro peloton (and believe us…we do), you will notice a common theme of simplifying the look of their kits, going for a cleaner and more classic look and with a couple of exceptions (no names here), choosing class over clash.

Our new offerings from Capo. Castelli and others reflect this aesthetic with several Looks in iconic black and white as well as a few very retro-esque looks like Capo’s Modena kit and Castelli’s Rosso Corso line.

Considering the many things that you could spend your hard earned shekels on, springing for a new kit or 2 every year is a small price to pay for looking good and feeling good while you’re out riding your bike and developing your fitness.  If your winter was spent mostly indoors, avoiding long, wet and cold roads it can be tough to get back in the riding groove, especially if you’re looking in your drawer at a pile of stretched out, faded lycra, flattened out chamois and crusty, salty helmet pads.  Take a look around and freshen up your cycling wardrobe for the summer.
